“I’m just surprised that we haven’t worked out a way to harness electricity for direct human use,” my friend commented. “Imagine if you could just plug yourself into a power point any time you felt a little tired. It would be great.”
“You’re right,” I agreed. “We have instant hot water, air-conditioned shopping malls, and global positioning satellites.” These obviously aren’t the best examples of electrical use, but they were the first that came to mind. “Surely we should be able to replenish our bodies electronically.”
It’s a brilliant idea but I wish he’d never mentioned it. Every time I feel fatigued or hungover I find myself frustrated at our lack of recharge capabilities.
