A friend of mine has been living in Canada for the past six months or so; he landed himself a good job with a multinational company. We haven’t talked since he left, but I’ve been keeping up-to-date with his trip through the photos he uploads to a social media site. For the first few weeks he was posting pictures of drunk people at clubs and parties. After a while though, the only albums that seemed to make the cut were of him and a Canadian girl he’d met. This was a natural progression that I’d witnessed countless times, and usually, at this point in a relationship I’d stop looking at the posts, but with this girl it was different; I just couldn’t stop looking at her pictures. There was something about her face that made her extremely unattractive. I showed an album or two to my girlfriend; she’s always has something nice to say, and I was in need of a silver lining.
“I’m sure she’s quite nice,” my girlfriend commented, after scanning through some images; “she’s just a little unfortunate looking, that’s all.”
“But he’s always dated the hottest girls,” I said; “it’s so out of character.”
“Perhaps she’s just not photogenic,” my girlfriend offered.
I was quite happy with the suggestion. It really helped put the whole thing to rest... until last night when I met the girl in question. I was absolutely amazed when I saw her; even my girlfriend was lost for words. This girl was possibly the most photogenic person I’d ever seen; she was far more hideous than the images had suggested.
