I had an idea for a rational, scientific-driven character, who’s attempting to explore the creative side of his mind. I thought it would be interesting to consider his output in a short story. I imagined he would come up with ridiculous ideas like a pot plant that grows into a perfectly formed hatstand, a sundial stopwatch accurate to a hundredth of a second, and a periodic table of cheeses. I performed a quick Internet search to assess the ludicrousness of the proposed inventions. I actually found a periodic table of cheeses. Not only that, the table was created by a blind Russian cook. I have to start thinking outside the square.
