Marilyn Mason’s dog, Charlie, was pretty bored hanging around the backyard. The same thing every day – same blue ball to play with, same steel dish to drink from, same old tree to pee on. Things were just not interesting. Charlie decided to do something different for a change. He went down to the travel agent to organise a holiday.
“Where would you like to go?” asked the girl, enthusiastically.
“I don’t know,” replied Charlie. “Somewhere interesting.”
“What about Thailand?” suggested the girl.
“Sounds very nice,” said Charlie, “but I don’t like hot weather.”
“Ok.” The girl thought for a moment. “Perhaps Japan.”
“Japan would definitely be interesting,” agreed the dog, “but I don’t like sushi.”
“Maybe Japan would not be good for you then,” said the girl. “Perhaps China would be more suitable.”
“China must be very different from Los Angeles,” commented Charlie, “but there are too many people there. I would get lost.”
“Well why don’t you just stay home then!” the girl screamed, and then began to cry.
“That would be perfect,” said Charlie, and he returned happily to the yard.
