When I was six I received an entire packet of gummy bears for my birthday; I couldn’t believe my luck. I savoured every little sugar-filled candy; it must’ve taken me three weeks to exhaust the stockpile. Three years later I saved up enough money to purchase a 72 set of Derwent pencils. They brought me such delight. I used to spend hours each night learning colour names and organising them into number order. To be honest, I don’t even remember using them to draw. When I was thirteen I used the inheritance from my great aunt to buy a brand new walkman. I could sit for days listening through the same old tapes; songs just sounded fresh through the personal headphone system. Today I bought a brand new phone; it came with everything you could need: the Internet, a video camera, e-books, music, GPS, and a bunch of crap no one would ever use. I sat down this afternoon to investigate the special features. I got bored within 15 minutes.
