Someone once tried to convince me that half of the people who have ever lived are alive today. It’s an interesting idea, and, looking at population growth over the last few hundred years, isn’t all that farfetched. However, from what I’ve read, the comment is completely inaccurate. Leaving that aside we are still left with an interesting concept; after all, seven billion citizens is nothing to be sneezed at. My question then is: ‘where are the geniuses?’ The past is rife with amazing minds; Galileo Galilei, Thomas Edison, and Albert Einstein, to name just a few. So where is our brilliance? Is Justin Bieber the modern-day Mozart, Dan Brown comparable to Shakespeare, or the George Foreman grill a current equivalent to the wheel?
