I was talking to a girl at work last week. She was telling me about a friend of hers that she doesn’t really like. This so-called friend had been part their group for years and no one could work out why. Funnily enough, I have a friend that I don’t really like; none of my friends like him but he always seems to be hanging around. I shared this information with her and we had a bit of a laugh at human stupidity. Another guy we work with had been listening in on the conversation. He’s a bit of a wanker but no one ever says anything; unfortunately we have to work with him on a daily basis. He said that he would never befriend anyone that he didn’t like; his friendship group is apparently impenetrable. Once he gave this scornful spill he walked off with an air of importance. The girl laughed at his attitude. She leant over to me and said: “I bet the other members of this impenetrable group talk about a friend they don’t like.” I was thinking exactly the same thing.
