Most of my childhood memories are actually fictional events that took place in the television programs of the time. I know it sounds like I had a neglected upbringing but nothing could be further from the truth. Television actually played a relatively minor role in my childhood. Unfortunately, however, the latest cartoons and comedies were always a hot topic of conversation in the schoolyard. It was simply a subject to which all could relate. So now, when the only things I can recall from the best part of the last two decades is Elaine’s sanction by the Soup Nazi and Homer’s acquirement of a truckload of sugar, I take solace in the fact that these moments were not enjoyed alone.
